In the year 2001, the first Süd-Thüringen-Bahn railcars rolled onto the rails in South Thuringia. For operation on its railway lines, it has 37 vehicles of the type RS 1/Regio Shuttle by the company Stadler. This diesel railcar providing approximately 70 seats, handicapped-accessible areas for wheelchairs and prams, bicycles etc, and a toilet is tailored specifically for regional traffic.
